5 SIMPLE MONEY SAVING TIPS

November 4th, 2010

Money savingAt a time that is proving to be financially difficult, everyone is looking for different ways to save money. There are many adventurous things you can do to try and save money, but I think keeping it simple is normally the easiest and yet most effective way. Here are 5 simple money saving tips:

Spend Wisely – Be as frugal as you can when spending money, you should always try to spend within your limits. Spending more than you earn is a sure fire way to getting yourself into debt. To make sure you’re not spending more than you should be, you should monitor your income and expenditure by creating a budget. If used properly, a budget can be one of the best financial tools.

Use Lists When Shopping – Out shopping is where most people tend to spend more money than they actually need to. When you plan on going shopping, take a list with you of what you need and try to stick to the list to the best of your ability. Avoiding unnecessary impulse purchases can result in your shopping bill being a lot less than it normally is.

Always Look Forward – When you are looking to save money you should always have a set of little aims that point to an overall objective of what you want to achieve. For example you could set yourself a target of getting rid of £2000 worth of debt in the next 6 months, but to do this you need to set yourself some smaller objectives. E.g. you could look to save £100 a week, but the aims don’t just have to be in the shape of financial figures, it could be something along the lines of “I want to find a cheaper energy provider”.

Loyalty and Credit Cards – If you regularly shop in the same stores then having a loyalty card can save you some serious money. Loyalty cards offer a quick way for you to earn points that can be redeemed again in store, many clothes stores and supermarkets have loyalty cards so see if you can get involved. Credit cards when used correctly can save you money, for example funding big purchases on a rewards or purchase credit card can get you brilliant rewards. Check out the options available to you.

Price Comparison Websites – Using price comparison websites is a great way to save money. When you are looking for a product or service you can use the price comparison sites to do all the hard work for you. They will search various providers for you and they will return with a list of results. You can get a fantastic view of the options available to you and it’s a great way to save.
